PLAN FOR THE DAY :

On leaving your hotel your adventure to the Great South of New Caledonia will begin.

You will ride on old forest tracks of red rock, across the mining maquis (a shrub dominated area,underlain by rock that was mined for nickel) and you will benefit from viewpoints of the plains of the battlefield and Prony bay.

Visit the historic village of Prony on foot, to learn about the history of the penal colony and the mine.
Venture onto an old iron ore mining site of predominantly red soil, as on the planet Mars.

Take a walk on the botanical trail, in the Madeleine Falls reserve and admire the waterfall in a prehistoric setting, unique in the world.

Enjoy a tasty picnic “whilst bathing your feet” on the edge of the River of Lakes.

After lunch, you will continue on the route to Yate lake and benefit from a final stop to, once again, admire the contrasting colours which this special region offers.

Ride along the lake’s edge to complete the round trip in the Great South and return to Noumea.
